Just wanted to thank you for publishing Scott Ostler's Hopper Hands piece on your blog. Yesterday, my husband and I watched jogger after jogger touch the plaque and, not wanting to disturb, didn't ask what it was about.

But we were both so glad, just now, to learn about the history, especially who Ken Hopper is.

We lost a very good friend to a bridge suicide three years ago and it is still something we haven't fully come to terms with and maybe never will. Conflicted and pained with every crossing, we still love the bridge so much. We often talk about the people who tried to intervene, like Ken (coincidentally, our friend was also named Ken) as well as the people who deal with the aftermath.

We loved, too, the quote at the end about San Francisco. It is EXACTLY how we felt yesterday after an extraordinary day in the city. (My husband grew up on 40th and Noriega. A Sacred Heart boy, a true Son of the Sunset. We've lived in Sonoma for almost 30 years, coming into the city whenever we can. We have a long, deep affection. But yesterday was something else -- the light, the fog, the people. We were kind of overcome -- AGAIN -- with the beauty of it all)

Thank you again and keep blogging!
